Inhibitory effects of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and Cd2+ on the growth of prostate cancer PC-3 cell.

2009
Effects of EGCG(epigallocatechin gallate), Cd2+ and EGCG+Cd2+ on the growth of prostate cancer PC-3 cells were investigated by MTT assay.Morphological changes of PC-3 cells were obtained with an inverted microscope.Apoptosis of PC-3 cells were measured according to Cell Apoptosis Rhodamine 123 detection Kit, and cell membrane fluidity was detected with Bruker ESR A300 spectrometer. The results showed that EGCG and Cd2+ could inhibit growth of PC-3 cells.and bring the changes of PC-3 cells morphologically.Apoptosis of PC-3 cells treated with 80 μmol/L EGCG were not induced.Meantime, cell necrosis was found by 20 μmol/L Cd2+.But apoptosis of PC-3 cells was induced by 80 μmol/L EGCG in the presence of 20 μmol/L Cd2+.Also, the membrane fluidity of PC-3 cells was decreased by EGCG and EGCG+Cd2+.
