One described the theory and the Lesults of Monte carlo simulations, and the other, (EEE Trans. Nucl. sci. 1992, in F), prtsented data showing the efficacy of the technique in the corredion of spcctra acquired at high counts rate from a large NaI(TI) scintillation detector. In this paper data arc presented showing the application of the method in removing pileup distortion hm Ge spectra acquired at high count rates provided by APTEC Engineering of Toronto. The results obtained are compared with spedra acquired using a hardware pulse pileup rcjcdor under ideatical conditions. A method for determining the effedive pulse rise-time of a given MCA system, (as sccn by the system ADC), is presented and the relevant theory is discussed It is based on the comparison of low and high count rate spema acquired by the system at known input count rates.
