Associação da qualidade do sono com antropometria e parâmetros cardiacos em idosos

2019
Introduction: Sleep quality has been studied emphatically last years and has been observed its relationship with cardiovascular diseases. This way, studying this relation may contribute to prevention and treatment of complications which impact in individual health quality. Objective: Associate sleep quality with anthropometry and cardiac parameters in elders. Material and Method: It is a descriptive and transversal study, with a quantitative approach, carried out with the elder living in close condominium. A Pittsburgh questionnaire (PSQI) was applied for the evaluation of sleep quality and carried out an anthropometric and cardiac parameters evaluation. Results: 27 elderly were evaluated, from these 61,5% of the women and 78,6% of the men had bad sleep quality. Comparing sleep quality with anthropometric measures the feminine gender showed that the increase of the waist/hip relationship is related to the decrease of sleep quality and sleep latency, and the increase of e weight is related to sleep disturbances. Comparing the cardiac parameters with sleep quality the masculine gender showed that the increase of heart frequency was associated to sleep disturbances and dysfunction during the day. Discussion: Because of the physiological changes of ageing sleep patterns were altered, bringing damages to its quality. The sleep quality has also got changes when associated to high anthropometric factors. Conclusion: It is suggested that changes in sleep quality of elderly can reflect differently between genders.
