Case-control study on influential factors of dietary nutrition contributing to Iron Deficiency Anemia in women in Southern Jiangsu Province

Objective: To understand about the influential factors of dietary nutrition contributing to Iron Deficiency Anemia. Methods: Case-control study was conducted.Three hundreds and three pairs of women,who were elected as case and control groups,enrolled in the study by filling a questionnaire. Results: Daily vitamin A Intake in case group(156.8±(84.7 μg)) was significantly less than that in control groups(169.2±(130.0 μg)).The Iron intake daily in case group(15.3±(6.6 mg)) was significantly lower than that in control groups(16.5±(9.4 mg)).Daily zinc intake between case groups(10.2±(3.9 mg))and control group(10.8±(5.4 mg))also reached statistical significance. Conclusion: High incidence of Iron Deficiency Anemia in Jiangsu may be likely related to inadequate dietary nutrition and incorrect cooking method,furthermore,deficiency of Iron,Vitamin A and Vitamin C were considered as influential factors of dietary nutrition contributing to Iron Deficiency Anemia.
