Moxibustion at Dagukong(Ex-UE5) for Treating Chalazion

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect and prognosis of moxibustion at Dagukong(Ex-UE5) in treating chalazion.Methods Thirty patients(36 eyes) who rejected surgery were included to receive moxibustion at Dagukong(Ex-UE5).Its effective rate and the relapse rate in 3 months were compared with another 30 patients who received surgery.Result The total effective rate was 97.2% in the moxibustion group,which was approaching to the result in the surgery group.The cyst was significantly reduced after receiving moxibustion treatment(P0.01).During the 3-month follow-up study,there was one relapsed in the moxibustion group,and the relapse rate was 4.5%,lower than that in the surgery group(20.0%).Conclusion Moxcaseibustion at bilateral Dagukong(Ex-UE5) is effective in treating chalazion,with similar effective rate but lower relapse rate compared with surgery treatment.
