Comparison and Analysis of Design Methods on 50 000 m~3 Tank Wall Thickness

Tank wall thickness design can influence the cost and reliability of tank,so how to deal with the dialectical relationship between the design and construction of oil tank is of very important significance.In tradition,wall thickness design of large oil tank is applied by the variable point method.On basis of reliability theory,taken reliability analysis model as core,the research puts forward a novel method for calculating wall thickness of large oil tank by applying reliability method.Taking a 50 000 m3 tank as an example,and compiling the program,the difference of thickness by two ways is analyzed.The results show that wall thickness is not variable with different numbers of shell-courses at bottom course by the variable point method,and so is by reliability method when the reliability index is fixed.The feasibility of thickness design by reliability is discussed.In the same time,the reliability of thickness design by the variable point method is verified.All of the research work has a certain instruction and reference to tank thickness design in future.
