I Have no Appetite

2007
In the elderly the main cause for malnourishment is anorexia. A declining sensory perception, xerostomia, chewing problems, a premature repleteness, a lack of physical exercise as well as an increased administration of drugs due to comorbidity are some of the underlying causes. Since an unintentional loss of weight is often not recognized the nursing staff must be aware of this problem.
