A EXPANSÃO DO ENSINO SUPERIOR NO BRASIL: ABORDAGEM PRELIMINAR DAS POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS E PERSPECTIVAS PARA O ENSINO DE GRADUAÇÃO

The purpose of this article is to examine the expansion process of undergraduate education in Brazil in the 1990's, identifying the major public policies adopted in the field during this preriod. Moreover, based on the analysis of results from governmental actions in the sector, it seeks to identify the proposals being studied in the scope of the Ministry of Education in order to confront the main challenges of the present decade: the increase in the number of vacancies for students and the improvement of the quality of existing courses.
