PREVALÊNCIA DE DISCINESE ESCAPULAR EM PRATICANTES DE TREINAMENTO DE FORÇA EM UMA ACADEMIA DE QUIXERÉ, CEARÁ

2019
This study aimed to verify the prevalence of scapular dyskinesis (SD) and its association with body mass index (BMI), training time, and age in strength training (ST). The study was composed of 15 adult male volunteers, who had been practicing ST for more than six months. To evaluate SD, the glenohumeral elevation and abduction test was performed. The mean age, body weight, height and training time were 29.13 (± 6.5 years), 74.95 (± 8.9 kg), 1.71 (± 0.06 m) and 32 ± 35.7 months), respectively. SD was observed in 73% of the volunteers, suggesting an positive association between SD and training time. This study showed that the prevalence of SD is high in ST practitioners and there is an positive association between training time and the presence of this dysfunction.
