PCR/RFLP and PFGE Sub-Typing of Thermophilic Campylobacter Isolates from Poultry Epidemiological Investigations

1996
Epidemiological studies are urgently required to determine the sources and routes of transmission of campylobacter infections in broiler houses so that suitable intervention methods can be developed3. Recently a molecular typing scheme has been established using Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) products of the flagellin A and B genes1. The aim of this study was to use this technique and PFGE to analyse subtypes of C. jejuni in a significant proportion (about 10%) of the poultry flock in Great Britain.
