Closed Heart Surgery for Congenital Heart Disease in Infancy

Closed heart surgery for congenital heart defects can be palliative or corrective. The results with palliative and corrective procedures in infants under 1 month of age done at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto from 1982 to 1987 are presented. The palliative procedures discussed are systemic to pulmonary shunts, pulmonary artery banding, and atrial septectomy. The corrective procedures presented are aortic valvotomy and repair of coarctation of the aorta.Neontal Cardiac Arrhythmias and Their Potential Role in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
