Interaction of polyethylene glycol with sodium salts in dilute solutions

1989
The interaction of polyethylene glycol with NaBr, NaI, NaSCN, NaB(C6H5)4, NaBF4, NaOC2H2(NO2)3 in methanol and acetonitrile solution is studied by electrical conductivity, viscometry, and 23Na NMR methods. The degree of association of the polyester macromolecules and the electrical conductivity of its complexes with NaI and NaClO4 are determined. For the concentrations studied (5 × 10−4 and 5 × 10−3 mole/l. it is shown that the nature of the solvents and sodium salt anions affect complex formation.
