Women’s opinions about potential complications of cae-sarean delivery

2017
Caesarean section is an abdominal sur-gery performed to terminate pregnancy or labour by opening of the abdominal cavity and uterus and removal of the foetus. This procedure can be associated with both general and specific com-plications. The proportion of caesarean deliveries in Poland has been increasing year after year, up to 43% in 2016. While con-ventional indications to caesarean delivery still remain un-changed, the decision to perform this procedure is also increas-ingly influenced by maternal and social pressure on obstetricians. Caesarean section has very high acceptance rate, even as an alter-native to vaginal delivery. The aim of this study was to analyze women’s knowledge about potential complications of caesarean delivery.
