Advanced automation control systems (AACS) for Energy and Comfort Management in a Building Environment

2018
Abstract The future energy industry will be characterized by lower population growth, radical new technologies, greater environmental challenges, and a shift in economic and geopolitical power. These underlying drivers will re-shape the economics of world energy. Energy savings for residential and commercial buildings has been a goal set by many countries all around the world. Optimal energy savings can only be achieved by tailoring the use of products to individual requirements and at the same time not to sacrifice basic household needs and the comfort of the house occupants. Advanced and intelligent controls have not been used when studying and designing either residential or commercial buildings with the aim to optimize energy consumption and obtaining maximum energy savings. Advanced automation control systems (AACS) for Energy and Comfort Management in a Building Environment have been used lately but on very limited cases. Intelligent Building (IB) is one that provides productive and cost-effective environment through optimization of its four basic elements: structure, systems, services and management-and the interrelationships between them. Fuzzy Cognitive Maps are used as an intelligent system for meeting energy saving objectives when designing residential and commercial buildings.
