Preferred orientation in experimentally deformed YBa2Cu3O6+x

Neutron diffraction data document that [001] axes of YBa2Cu3O6+x in an experimentally deformed polycrystalline aggregate are preferentially aligned parallel to the compression direction. Preferred crystallographic orientation strongly affects oxygen stoichiometry results determined by structure refinement analysis of neutron diffraction data and appropriate corrections are necessary.
