Survey on Prevalence Rates of Chronic Non-communicable Diseases Among Rural Residents of Lutang Town

Objective To investigate the prevalence rates of chronic non-communicable diseases(CNCDs) and its influencing factors among rural residents in Lutang Town,Chenzhou,and to provide the evidences for making the targeted policies of regional hygiene. Methods With the random sampling method,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,332 rural residents in Lutang Town,Chenzhou. Results Hypertension,diabetes and coronary heart disease were the three most popular CNCDs in Lutang Town,with the prevalence rates of 5.71%,3.60%,and 3.08%,respectively.No statistically significant difference was found in the prevalence rate between males and females(P0.05).The prevalence rates of CNCDs increased with the increase of age,and the highest peak appeared on 65~ age group. The prevalence rates were also affected by the residents' educational backgrounds.The requirements of the investigated objects for health service programs were mainly periodic physical examination,health guidance and home medical care,and the demand ratios were 40.7%,32.2%,and 19.3%,respectively. Conclusions The prevention work of CNCDs in rural areas of Lutang Town should focus on hypertension,coronary heart diseases,diabetes,and their risk factors, and it should develop health promotion work in accordance with health requirements of the residents.
