Fatores que interferem na adesão ao tratamento da psoríase grave em pacientes atendidos no ambulatório de psoríase grave da Secretaria de Estado da Saúde de Santa Catarina

2018
FOUNDATIONS: Adherence to psoriasis treatment depends on factors concerning the patient, the disease, the therapy and the health care service to which the patient is linked, and the recognition of those factors may contribute to improving care for people living with psoriasis. OBJECTIVE: To identify the factors that interfere with treatment adherence in patients treated at the severe psoriasis outpatient clinic of Santa Catarina. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study developed through the electronic records of patients seen at the severe psoriasis outpatient clinic of the Santa Catarina State Department of Health, from July 2015 to June 2016. Analysis in SPSS18.0, Chi-square test and p≤0,05. Odds ratio with 95% confidence interval. Approved by the Research Ethics Committee of UNISUL. RESULTS: 100 electronic records were analyzed, 56 patients participated in the study. The main factor associated with non-adherence to psoriasis treatment in the study population were adversities in primary health care, with an odds ratio 12.7 times greater (p=0.001) than factors associated with the patient or the medication. STUDY LIMITATIONS: Information bias, non-response bias by participants not reached by telephone, non-use of validated instruments for adherence investigation. CONCLUSIONS: Adversities experienced by the participants in the primary health care sector were the main factor associated with non-adherence to treatment. Further studies should be conducted to investigate the quality of health care provided to patients with psoriasis as well as the determinants of therapeutic efficacy.
