Qualitative Study in Prison Education

This research study is a phenomenological study of prison education in Ireland. It is will describe the lived experiences of people attending education in this context, their self-efficacy, their emotions, their experiences and the effect that learning has on them. It addresses the lived experiences of the prisoner at this time as a parent, as a partner, and as a son/daughter, and outlines the impact of prison education on these relationships. It will also include the lived experiences of former prisoners now engaged in higher education in the community and the experiences of others who work in prison education, teachers and prison staff.
