Automated System for Measuring an Integral Pain Index in Patients with General Anesthesia

2020
In this paper, we develop the requirements for an automated system for measuring the pain level experiencing by a patient during anesthesia, methods and algorithms for implementing such a system using various indicators: data on the course of the patient’s respiratory cycle, spectral characteristics of the electroencephalogram and electrocardiogram, indicators of the skin-galvanic reaction of the skin, pulse wave characteristics, dynamics of changes in mean arterial pressure, and heart rate. A block diagram of the operation of the module for calculating the integral pain indicator, a functional diagram of its implementation, and the results of clinical trials are presented.
