TESTS ON BITUMINOUS MIXTURES USED FOR SEALING JOINTS IN CONCRETE SURFACINGS

1969
For the hot sealing of joints in concrete surfacings, Bituminous mixtures should fulfill the following requirements: (1) easy and even filling of cracks approximately 10mm wide, at temperatures compatible with real working conditions; (2) complete sealing preventing water seepage; (3) deformability allowing the surfacing A certain amount of play without formation of cracks of unglueing of the concrete; (4) impact strength at low temperatures (0 degrees c); (5) weak reaction to temperature changes; (6) no tendency towards sedimentation, if inert materials are used. Various tests for assessing the properties mentioned above are examined. Results are given of tests on siliceous sand/asfasol h mixtures, limestone filler/asfasol h mixtures, industrial talc/asfasol H mixtures, asbestos/asfasol h mixtures, vulcanized rubber/ asfasolh mixtures, and rubber/oil/asfasol h mixtures. The number of the covering abstract of the annual meeting is 100980. /TRRL/
