Parthenogenesis And Autogeny In Culicoides Bambusicola Lutz (Ceratopogonidae, Diptera)

1968
A colony of Culicoides Bambusicola was established and maintained through a calculated 3.5 generations. During the 2.5 months that the colony survived, complete autogeny was observed. Parthenogenic development of low order was found to occur in eggs from 4 individual virgin ♀♀ (4–21% parthenogenic development) and 2 groups of virgin ♀♀ (0.3% parthenogenic development for all the eggs deposited by each group) all isolated as pupae.
