Improvement of the Thermohydraulic Operating Regimes of Deaerators in the Makeup and Boron Regulation System with Packed Columns

One of the main pieces of equipment in the makeup and boron regulation system for the first loop of an NPP is the deaerator, whose functions is to degas the coolant removed from the first loop of a nuclear reactor in different operating regimes. Operating experience has shown that a deaerator design with packing columns does not give the requisite margin to flooding. Deaerator calculations suggesting further ways to solve the problem are presented.
