The implementation of the Master's Degree in Formacion del
Profesorado de Educacion Secundaria Obligatoria, Bachillerato y
Formacion Profesional at the University of Oviedo has generated the
need to rethink teaching and methodological principles to suit
Spanish education in the XXI century. The author of this proposal
was, at the same time as facing this challenge, also the responsible
person for this subject in the Entrance Test for the University. Given
this, while they set out Master classes, developed a series of
research activities within the framework of what is understood as an
essential teaching innovation action. In this paper we present the
process and obtained partial conclusions, and decisions that have
been taken in relation to the class of "Complementary Training
Discipline : Music" as a starting point for teacher training in the
specialty. This first work period allowed us, in our view, to have
strong reference points for the new change which approaches in the
field of the Master and national music education: as regards the first
point, because from next year the profile of students will change, the
majority of students coming from the Bachelor of Music will change
to students from the Degree in History and Science of Music, and
regarding the second point the challenges this field will face in the
new scheme of the Education Act which is in the process of study
and promulgation.
