'Darwin' fox goes to school, and to Auckland University College, 1892 to 1900

2010
Charles Elliot Fox was born in 1878, the second son of the Rev John Elliot Fox MA (Cantab) and Emma (nee Phillips). His father soon realized that England was certainly not the country to bring up two young lads of indifferent health and with a wife who had already lost one child and had shown signs of TB (tuberculosis), he saw the plain fact that a change of scenery was called for. In 1884, he brought his family to New Zealand where he had accepted the position of Vicar of Holy Trinity at Gisborne at the instigation of Archdeacon Williams.
