Reliable Emergency Message Dissemination in VANET Using Hybrid Partitioning Approach

2018
In recent years, Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET), a subset of an ad-hoc network and an important component of intelligent transportation system (ITC), has gained more attention to provide safe and comfort journey for users. VANET applications are categorized as safety and comfort based. The safety applications are important to human life such as accident prediction and detection, collision avoidance and dissemination of emergency messages to vehicles. Broadcasting is an efficient method of communicating the safety messages. This paper presents a unique Hybrid Partitioning Approach for Data dissemination (HPADD) by partitioning the road using a hybrid approach. The selection of relay vehicles is addressed in this paper to provide minimum end to end delay. An insight into our work also reveals the issue of transmissions by hidden node problem and the issue of packet collision. The simulations are carried out using NS2 to prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed mechanism.
