Born Global from Emerging Market: Constructing Cross-National Networks

Born global firms from developed countries have gained much attention in international business research in recent years. However, firms in emerging markets that go global since foundation is a relatively new and unrevealed phenomenon in that they are faced with different institutional context and resource endowments compared with their developed country counterparts. We thus designed a single case study to investigate how a born global firm in emerging market (China) achieved rapid internationalization in global competition based on LLL Framework (linkage, leverage and learning). Data from in-depth interviews and other sources showed that born global firm could exploit opportunities from institutional distances to act as broker to establish network ties and consolidate the network by providing services reducing transaction cost to both sides.
