INTRODUCTION: Increased lengths of stay in the emergency department (ED) correlate with decreased patient satisfaction and worse patient outcomes. The ED boarding time (time from admission order to ED departure) at an urban, academic, tertiary-care children’s hospital was 10% longer than the national benchmark.
