Wedescribe thestructure ofanArabidopsis thaliana genomic clone containing twoclasses ofrepetitive DNA elements derived fromthecentromere region of chromosome 1.Oneclassiscomprised oftandem arraysofa highlyreiterated repeatcontaining degenerate telomere sequencemotifs. Adjacent to thesetelomere-similar repeats wefoundadispersed repetitive element reiterated approximately five times intheA.thaliana genome.Thenucleotide sequence ofthedispersed repeat isunusual, being extremely ATrichandcomposedofnumerous, overlapping repeat motifs.
