2007
Objective To investigate the attitude toward death among nurse students so as to provide information for delivering death education for them. Methods One hundred and eighty-nine nurse students were surveyed concerning their attitude toward death by using a self-designed questionnaire. Results There were significant differences in attitude toward death among the nurse students of different genders and educational backgrounds (P0.05 for both). Significant difference in the attitude was found between those who experienced loss of loved ones and those who had not (P0.05). The nurse students investigated had a scientific view of death, though psychologically and intellectually they were not well prepared for dealing with death. Conclusion On grounds that nurse students hold different attitude toward death, teachers should take the advantage of clinical circumstances to helq them cultivate healthy personality and scientific concept of death and help them take on the sacred duty of delivering health care to terminally ill patients.
