The debate around active methodologies in higher education is a topic that has gained space in the academic environment in recent years. In this debate, the use of active methodologies in higher education is equivalent to a promising pedagogical resource in terms of improving learning and, consequently, education. This article originates from a field study with the use of active methodologies in an evening Administration course, for more than three years, of the survey type, with students participating in an innovative practice that aimed to encourage student participation in classes and develop autonomy in the self-learning process. It was found that active methodologies represented fundamental tools in pedagogical mediation, in which student and teacher became protagonists and active subjects, who interacted and exchanged information constantly, making the classroom situation an opportunity to develop meaningful learning.
