The invention discloses a preparation method of a SiOx-C composite for a negative electrode of a lithium ion battery. In the method, citric acid is adopted as a carbon source and mixed with a silicon source to obtain gel, gel is poured in a culture dish to form a film, a SiOx-C precursor is prepared, and then the SiOx-C composite is prepared by conducting sintering under the protection of inert gas atmosphere at a high temperature. The method is high in repeatability, low in production cost, simple in operation step and suitable for mass production.
