La MATE-Fr. Introduction à la version française d’un instrument d’évaluation globale en addictologie

2018
In the addiction field, few measurement instruments propose an overall assessment of the patient. Among such tools, the best known is the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), which was a forerunner instrument, but it has also been criticized for being too complex and too monolithic. In 2010, a new instrument named "Measurements in the Addictions for Triage and Evaluation" (MATE) has been launched in the Netherlands. The MATE aims to be used in clinical practice, for triage and evaluation. The MATE has been translated in several European languages. A new translation has just been undertaken in French for the French-speaking professionals. The MATE presents several originalities that makes it interesting. First, it is modular, and each module can be used independently from the others. Thus, the MATE is a flexible tool that can adapt to the objective defined by the team that wants to use it. Second, the MATE includes a module named MATE – ICN, which aims to assess the social and personal functioning of the patient. For rehabilitation programs are being developed in the field of addiction medicine, the MATE could be a must-use tool for the indication of the patients, their longitudinal assessment and of their outcomes.
