Grupla Psikolojik Danışma Sürecinde Grubun Gelişim Evrelerine Kültürel Bir Bakış

In counseling groups there are four developmental stages; initial stage, transition stage, working stage and termination stage. In the present study validity of these stages for Turkish culture was examined. Since the study was conducted with training groups, the subgoal of the study was to exhibit the factors effecting group counseling processes. In the study sequential explanatory design, a mixed research method was used. The study was conducted with four group leaders who lead experiential groups within group counseling course in a guidance and counseling undergraduate program of a state university located in western Turkey. Quantitative data was collected by a checklist completed by group leaders following each group session. The qualitative data was collected by interviews conducted with each group leader. According to the quantitative findings, item scores in the initial and termination stages were high, item scores in the working stage were high in most of the sessions and item scores in the transition stage was high only in a few sessions. According to the qualitative data, although characteristics of initial, working and termination stages were observed by all the group leaders, transition stage’s characteristics were not.
