Layer dependent composition of AuCu3(100) in the semi-infinite and thin film geometry

Abstract We compare the experimental data for the concentration profiles measured by the directional Auger electron spectroscopy for the binary alloys AuCu 3 fcc(1 0 0) with the conclusions obtained in the frame of theoretical model describing the surface properties in terms of the order parameters. The interpretation of the theoretical results in the context of measurements performed by means of various experimental techniques shows that the simultaneous description of the concentration profile and the long-range order parameters is rather difficult to agree the experimental behaviour. We show, however, that a very good agreement can be achieved when the interaction constants are considered to be temperature dependent.
