Animal toxins: an overview

Toxins in the environment, derived from animals, water and food, are a worldwide problem but much more prevalent in tropical and less developed regions. There, they also present a greater potential hazard to humans. We present a brief review of what has been the subject of classical and more recent studies from the Southeast Asia region.
