Large fragmentation of the pairing-vibration[direct product]particle strength in [sup 145]Sm

1994
The two-neutron transfer reaction [sup 147]Sm([ital p],[ital t])[sup 145]Sm was studied at [ital E][sub [ital p]]=26 MeV. Angular distributions were measured for [theta][sub lab]=5[degree]--50[degree]. The strength of the two neutron monopole pairing phonon[direct product]particle configuration ([ital n][sub [minus]]=1,[ital n][sub +]=1)[direct product][nu]2[ital f][sub 7/2] is identified in odd mass [sup 145]Sm and is found to be quasi-uniformly spread in two narrow groups of as many as 8+5=13 states. This unexpected large fragmentation is compared with the one in the core nucleus [sup 144]Sm and with that from its isotone [sup 143]Nd where the monopole pairing vibration is less fragmented. The couplings with other excitation modes are extracted.
