Liver graft volume estimation using 64-detector multislice spiral computed tomography

2010
Objective To investigate the accuracy of liver graft volume estimation using 64-detector multislice spiral computed tomography. Methods Twelve living liver donors underwent 64-detector multislice spiral CT.The 3 dimensional images of the live were reconstructed and the volume of the left lateral liver lobe was calculated using software. The left lateral lobe was also weight during operation. The estimated liver volume and the real weight were compared to analyze their correlations.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS15.0.Results The estimated liver volume was 281.99±52.10 ml.The real weight of the live was 248.70 ± 49.46 g.There was a significant positive corre-lation between the estimated liver volume and real weights (R = 0.905,P<0.001).The correlation could be expressed by the equation as W(g)= 0.860 × V (ml)+ 6.368.(W,real weight;V,estimated volume). Conclusions The 64-detector multislice spiral CT is helpful to estimate the left laterallobe graft weight.
