Objective-To assess theacuteeffects of singleand repeatedcoronaryartery occlusions, duringpercutaneous transluminalcoronaryangioplasty (PTCA),on leftventricular longaxisfunction in patients withstable andunstable angina. Design-Prospective examination ofventricular systolic anddiastolic longaxis function usingM modeechocardiography andtransmitral Dopplerinpatients with significant coronaryarterystenosis and either stable orunstable angina, during routine PTCA. Setting-Atertiary referral centrefor heartdisease withcardiac catheterisation andechocardiographic facilities.
