Harmonics and Inter-harmonics Estimation of Voltage/Current Based on Least Error Squares Algorithm

The widespread use of nonlinear loads and modern frequency power converters generate a big number of current/voltage harmonics and inter-harmonics that will be superimposed to the principal current/voltage causing damaging problems to the power network. That is why it becomes very important to analyze the power supply network current/voltage and identify different harmonics and inter-harmonics components based on an appropriate estimation technique. Indeed the techniques that have been used are based on spectral estimation, suffer from several problems. The technique of Least Error Squares (LES) used in this paper for the estimation of the current/voltage harmonics and inter-harmonics components is considered as one of the parametric technique which has several advantages as effectiveness and accuracy and independence in choice of sampling rate. The obtained simulation results with Matlab environment prove clearly all these performances of the used technique.
