A liga acadêmica de urologia do pará como instrumento de capacitação profissional, educação e promoção em saúde

The men’s health promotion as well as health education for the general population are still poorly addressed by universities on undergraduate courses of Medicine. In order to close de gap between medical students and an extremely important area for the formation of health professionals, it was conceived a project by Liga Academica de Urologia do Para (Academic League of Urology of Para, Brazilian acronym LAUPA) in order to fulfill this gap. Through the project, the league members conducted several activities such as: training lectures; clinical care and men’s health promotion through the event Novembro Azul (Blue November), in 2015; sexual education courses to adolescents; participation, along with Associacao Brasileira de Urologia (Brazilian Society of Urology – Brazilian acronym BSU), in the television program Bem Estar (Well Being). Such activities contributed to introduce the league members to the community, to provide health care for the general population and to demonstrate the transformative role of health professionals in society.
