Schwannoma del nervio cubital Schwannoma of the cubital nerve

2015
SUMMARY Schwannoma is an infrequent tumor, originated at the Schwann cells of the nerve sheaths. Its location in the carpus is probably the least frequent one. This study presents the case of a 42-year-old female patient with an asymptomatic soft tissue tumor at the volar region of the left wrist, which was clinically diagnosed as a volar ganglion of the carpus and that underwent surgical treatment. At the moment of the operation a solid tumor was found at the sheath of the cubital nerve. Resection of the lesion was performed and histological study was carried out which showed a benign schwannoma of the cubital nerve. The patient progressed satisfactorily after six months of surgery, without sensory and motor disorders. There was no relapse of the tumor.
