A Simple Stated Preference Tool for Estimating the Value of Travel Time in Rural Africa

Households in Meru County, Kenya were surveyed on their preference in collecting water from sources that differed only in the distance from the household and the price charged. Random-parameters logit and latent class multinomial logit frameworks established individual-level value of travel time (VTT) savings in this rural, low-income setting.
