Development of Polymer Segmented Cladding Fiber

The development of segmented-cladding fiber introduces briefed. The structure and properties characteristics are discussed in detail with segmented cladding fiber consisting of 6 low index segments as an example. Current fabricating methods for polymer segmented cladding fiber are discribed in detail. We proposed fabricating polymer segmented-cladding fiber by bicomponent spinning is proposed. The polymer optical fiber with segmented cladding is produced by using polycarbonate and poly(methylmethacrylate) after spin pack design and appropriate modification of current melting bicomponent spinning.
