COMPLICATION OF BONE-MARROW TRANSPLANTATION GRAFT-VERSUS-HOST DISEASE RESULTING FROM CHRONIC-MYELOGENOUS-LEUKÆMIA LEUCOCYTE TRANSFUSIONS

1970
Abstract Allogeneic bone-marrow transplantation was attempted in a 12-year-old boy with acute lymphocytic leukaemia. Chronicmyelogenous-leukaemia leucocytes transfused during a period of granulocytopenia became engrafted and resulted in graft-versus-host disease. Allogeneic blood-products should not be transfused into patients with severe drug or irradiation induced immunosuppression without prior in-vitro X-irradiation.
