10.2: High‐Resolution High‐Brightness LCD Projectors

A new concept of AM-LCD (Active Matrix-Liquid Crystal Display) projectors, which utilizes two polarization components p and s from a light source, has been developed. Two prototypes of AM-LCD projectors that simultaneously demonstrated both of high-resolution (SXGA) and high-brightness (1500 and 2500 ANSI lm) for large-screen systems, based on the new concept, are described.
