A fuzzy logic application applied to local area Network management

1999
Due to the needs and flexibility of current computer networks, more efficient and flexible management systems must be in place. These systems should be able to treat every possible situation of a network's debased performance, as well as the applications supported by them in an intelligent way. The present work is motivated by an interest in exploring and proposing a model for fuzzy logic usage when modeling a network management system. Such a model incorporates an expert vision, simplifies the knowledge and the conditions to diagnose possible debasing situations, supporting decisions made through a linguistic formal) vision of the uncertainties inherent to the management process. A testbed was implemented at the Presence Point of the Research National Network Backbone in Ceara, Brazil (RNP-POP/CE).
