Analysis of influencing factors of thermal de-icing of high-voltage transmission line

2013
Icing of high-voltage transmission line is one of the most serious problems to power grid. The heat transfer process of DC de-icing of transmission line including the heat transfer between the wire and the ice,and the heat exchange of the ice surface and the air,as well as the influencing factors of critical de-icing current and de-icing time based on heat transfer theory, was analyzed. The analysis results show that the de-icing time becomes long as the icing thickness and the wind speed increase, and the air temperature and the de-icing current decrease. On the other hand, the critical de-icing current increases as the wind speed increasing, the air temperature and the wire diameter decreasing.
