The invention discloses a multi-purpose single-axle two-joint boxcar for a railway. The boxcar comprises multiple multi-functional boxcars which are mutually connected, wherein the two adjacent multi-functional boxcars are connected together by a joint-type connector and assembled on a joint-type bogie; and two ends of the two adjacent multi-functional boxcars are equipped with a single-axle bogie respectively. According to the invention, the two adjacent multi-functional boxcars are connected together by the joint-type connector and the joint-type bogie, so that longitudinal impact force of a train can be reduced, an intra-car distance can be reduced, and more cars can be organized in groups on the same station line; and the single-axle bogies are adopted at the two ends of the multi-functional boxcar, so that a car weight is reduced, a car axle load utilization rate can be increased, and traction energy consumption of a locomotive can be reduced.
