Anti-inflammatory activity of some Ginkgo biloba constituents and of their phospholipid-complexes

1996
The topical anti-inflammatory activity of the G. biloba leaf extract and some of its components (ginkgolides, bilobalide, a biflavonic fraction and some pure biflavones) has been investigated on the Croton oil test in mice. The effect was checked also after complexation with distearoylphosphatidylcholine. The studied substances exibited an anti-inflammatory action with a potency comparable to that of indomethacin. Further-more, their phospholipid-complexes (Phytosome®s) exerted particularly marked effects higher than those displayed by the free substances.
