Management of Dental Trauma

Dental trauma is a relatively common injury, especially within the context of facial trauma. Proper management of dental trauma can lead to improved outcomes. A comprehensive oral exam as part of an overall head and neck exam during the secondary survey will identify the degree and nature of dental/dentoalveolar injury and allow for the indicated treatment. The severity and nature of the injury as well as the adjacent dentoalveolar structures will determine the proper treatment.
